Varicose veins are a disease in which blood vessels in the legs protrude outward. Occurs when the valves in the veins that pump blood from the legs to the heart are weakened.
Family history, overweight, lack of exercise, prolonged standing or sitting, and smoking are known to increase the risk of varicose veins.
