Body Slimming Procedures in Korea

No matter how much you diet or exercise, sometimes there is fat that just won't go away. Everyone stores fat in different places, and body slimming procedures are a great way to target those stubborn areas to get the body you want. Liposuction is one, but there are plenty more that we will compare below.

Types of Body Slimming Procedures

Injections

Injections, mainly composed of deoxycholic acid, are used to target specific areas and break down fat cells. The most famous brand of body slimming injection is Kybella. Results are noticeable from even one session, but for the best results it is advised to get at least 2 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The results are not immediate, as your body needs time to swell and dispose of the fat cells.

Injections are best used to treat smaller areas such as the chin area. You can see this marketed to those wanting V-shaped faces.

Laser lipolysis

This is another non-invasive procedure that utilises the heat energy from a laser to break down fat. The advantage to this treatment is that the laser tightens the skin while reducing the fat, allowing for more desirable results. The effectiveness depends on the type of laser used and the wavelength of the laser which can be adjusted to target difference tissues under the skin. This treatment shows results from around 6 weeks after the session and can take up to 3 months to show the final result.

Cryolipolysis

This is a non-invasive method that targets fat cells and freezing them which eventually breaks down the fat. This reduces fat in the target area by 20 to 25% per session and requires around 3 sessions to show good results. The most famous brand name equipment for cryolipolysis is CoolSculpting, but the Korean brand Clatuu360 is easier on the budget, can treat more than one area at a time, and is faster than CoolSculpting.

Liposuction

Liposuction is the most well known fat loss procedure and gives immediately noticeable effects as it removes a large amount of fat at once. It can be combined with other procedures, such as skin tightening, to prevent any sagging after the fat is removed. As with other cosmetic procedures in Korea, prices for liposuction are lower than other countries because of competition between hospitals and frequency of patients. All hospitals are well-equipped with trained doctors and the newest technology for your recovery.

Which body slimming option is right for me?

Cost

The most expensive procedure is easily liposuction, however it is the most effective at reducing large amounts of fat. Getting results will be cheaper with one liposuction procedure over multiple non-invasive procedures. If choosing a smaller area, such as cheeks, chin or arms, choosing a non-invasive procedure can be a great way to get great results for less than liposuction.

Invasive vs Non invasive

A person's preference is the biggest determining factor for which treatment is best for them. Doing any treatment can be scary, not even to mention the planning required for recovery of a big surgery (we talk about it down below). For those with busy lives, non-invasive procedures are recommended. For those who feel wary of liposuction or needles, surface treatments such as cryolipolysis or laser lipolysis would be best.

Recovery

Liposuction requires the most downtime out of all the procedures because it is an intensive surgery. Patients will have to take extreme after-surgery care and there may be check ups needed to make sure the healing is going well with no complications. Nowadays, there are many mini-lipo treatments available here in Korea that require less after-care and are less invasive. Injections require some downtime, as there may be some swelling in the area treated. Cryolipolysis, laser lipolysis and radio frequency lipolysis have no downtime at all, which contributes to it's popularity.
